FIRE

A fire blazing out of control
He screams and it seems
That a thousand voices scream with him

My heart beats faster
My stomach ties in knots
Here it comes again… the raging storm

Objects begin flying
Through the air
And the crashing glass echoes in my head

Memories surge of another time
Another blazing fire
And glass crashing all around me

I want to run away
To hide in a dark place
But I must be strong for him

Such a small child
To be razed by such a blazing fire
And yet I can not fix it, I must hold strong

As the last of the smoke dies
And I see him lying on the floor crying
I can do nothing but hold his small body

I know that this is just calm
Before another storm
And I can do nothing to save him

I must watch day by day
As my small child is eaten
By the fires of his own mind

A MOMENT

Like the dew drop clinging

To the very tip of the leaf

The wink of the star in the heavens

The first look into the eyes

Of a newborn child

These are the moments

That define us for all time

In that second frozen

Our lives change forever

We are different because of them

It is not in the story

Oh no

But in that second

When our eyes see

For the very first time

A story within a story

And our minds are opened

To all that could be

INFANCY

I read again what I had wrote
Years ago
Then a darkness dwelt
In my soul
Yet the naivety still
came through
I lived in a magic circle then

I searched for answers
With my pen
And let my mind wander
The recesses of my soul
And the poetry flowed
Like a star almost shining
In it's infancy

Swift and sweet
They floated like prayers
Of a youth disheartened
Dreams shattered
In shinning crystals
Some bronze a few scattered silver
But nothing gold

Not yet

KISSES

Some kisses are soft like butterfly wings

They tickle the edges of your lips

Soft kisses that remind you

Of the very first kiss shy and full of wonder

And take your breath away

Some kisses are warm like the sun

They are gentle and comfortable

Like sipping Iced Lemonade

On the porch on a summers day

And make you feel so good

Some kisses are sweet and sticky

Like a candy apple

Sliding right down inside of you

Making you feel light and free

And remind you of youth

And then there are kisses...

They take you back ten years

Make your knees quiver

And your stomach turn to jelly

Your heart pounds and you only wish

The kiss would go on forever

Whispering do you remember?

I remember...

Yes, do that again...
